BRLSI Bog Island
(Masters project, March 2020)
Working in collaboration with the BRLSI in Bath to bring to life historical artefacts from their vast collection within the institution. This was a group project to create an ‘Artefact Trail’ around the city of Bath, with each location linking to a different object from the collection. This site specific work looked at an area in Bath known as ‘Bog Island’, this was the original location of the BRSLI between 1824-1932. The drawings aim to re imagine what carboniferous fossils would have looked like 304 million years ago during this period. Using the scale of the buildings to imagine how huge these plants would have once been, bringing to life fossils that would once have covered Somerset.
