A Vision of 2100
(Masters project, January 2020)
Inspired by a graphic novel from the 1970’s predicting what life in 2020 would look like, I decided to interpret this with my own ideas of what the future might look like for us. Using current research published before or during January 2020 I have touched on ideas surrounding climate change and rising sea levels, the discovery of sand particles on Pluto, robots being used to care for the elderly and using 3d printing technologies to grow nutrients. The work aimed to see the future as optimistic and exciting, the same thrill that was predicted for 2020. In hindsight no one could predict what 2020 really had in store for the world. I also created a series of laser etched plastic drawings, considering futuristic techniques for drawing.
